The Navratri festival begins with a splash of festive atmosphere and vibrant energy where everyone starts planning to enjoy the mood with Dandiya, Durga puja, Dussehra, and leading up to all special days and cultural events up to Diwali.
DLF-2 residents have been participating in their own set of events every year with Dandiya and Dussehra celebrations. This year the vigour was no different. In the absence of a functional RWA body, the few residents formed a new cultural society, the Sadbhavana Cultural Society, and organised a set of events.
Dandiya Night on 11 Oct was a lively amalgamation of over 700 people dressed in beautiful traditional attire. The non-stop foot-tapping music kept everyone dancing to the beats with their dandiya sticks for many hours whilst enjoying some yum treats at the food stalls, and some enjoying shopping at the stalls.
On 12 Oct, Dussehra day, Ramleela Jhanki, by the Kala Kendra group of Muzzafarnagar, went across the colony in a pre-announced route, reaching each block where residents welcomed the Ram Rath and others. In the late afternoon, the troupe performed the last set of Ramleela. It culminated with the effigies of Kumbhkaran, Meghnath, and Raavan being burned in the community centre grounds. The energy across both days was infectious, with everyone coming together to celebrate community, culture, and the triumph of good over evil.
