Princeton in the grip of the festive mood, had one more occasion for celebration and that fell on Saturday, 21st October and the residents were enjoying utmost on the Dhandiya night. This again reflects the culture of Gujarat, and nevertheless, which state the Princetonites belonged to, they enjoyed as a mark of unity in diversity.
The football court took the shape of a dancing floor. Strings of colourful lights and flashlights illuminated the floor and the adjacent areas. The rhythm and tune of Bollywood songs gave new life to the dancers and the residents were merrily dancing with the multicolour sticks tapping their neighbours with graceful movements. Even the senior onlookers were tapping their feet humming the songs in accordance. That was a great occasion of enjoyment with the family members and friends outside their home sweet home.
It lasted for more than 3 hours, from 7:30 pm to 11 pm and the participants ranged from children to seniors.
Those who preferred watching the performance of their family members were seated on the outskirts and enjoying the sight. Residents attired in the best of their clothes seemed as though Heaven had descended on earth with the fairies all around.
The sizzling Bhatturey, the yummy tikis, the bloated gol gappas and the cheesy pizzas were dragging the dancers at intervals towards the peripheral food court to keep up their energy and spirit.
The members of the condominium who were also the organisers were ready to provide any help and were present at all places scattered to look into the arrangements. It looked as though, it was their family festival and hats off to their commitment and sincerity…
