The Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) of Anand Niketan hosted a spectacular Dandiya Night at Dusshera Park on October 10, bringing together residents (around 300-400) for an evening of dance, food, and celebration. The event featured three captivating performances followed by open-floor dancing, ensuring a memorable night for all attendees. The performances, practised for the last 10-15 days at Meenakshi Chanda’s house, showcased the talent and enthusiasm of the community:
The youngest group of participants, aged under 7, kicked off the event with a lively and heartwarming dance. The women of Anand Niketan lit up the stage with a graceful dandiya performance. Dressed in colorful traditional attire, they danced to the beat of festive music, displaying synchronised steps that reflected the hard work they had put into rehearsals.
The final performance came from the teenagers, aged 8 to 17, adding an exciting, high-energy touch to the evening. The crowd enthusiastically applauded their dynamic moves and enthusiasm.
Following the performances, residents were invited to join in the dandiya dancing, and the atmosphere quickly transformed into a scene of joy and community spirit.
Adding to the festive spirit, both vrat (fasting) and regular food were served by the RWA, catering to everyone’s tastes. The RWA’s efforts in organising the event were highly appreciated, as the night provided a perfect blend of tradition, entertainment, and community bonding.
