D 3 Residents Clash with MCD Over Gate Removal

On December 16, Himani and Abhishek Jain both came to the D 3 block along with the MCD team and wanted to remove the D 3 back lane gates. The reason given was that it’s a security threat to the Sriram School and also a fire hazard, although there is already a big pole erected by MCD in the middle of the back lane for reasons unknown to us. Due to this, no fire brigade can enter the back lane anyway. I spoke with the school authorities and other residents, and everyone was shocked to hear this. MCD also removed all security cameras and lights put up on the trees jointly by the school and D3 residents. They said that this was done as trees could catch fire. Their behaviour was very crude and they wanted to show their power. Rashmi Chugh and I have filed a police complaint. This sort of behaviour with senior citizens is unacceptable. We have spoken with the school authorities and they are ready to support us. Himani Jain is our councillor and a resident of Vasant Vihar.
