Over-speeding continues to be a menace in the colony. Two and four-wheelers in the hands of youngsters heady on youth and the adrenaline rush high-speed gives them, is a sure-shot recipe for disaster. That is not to say that the adults are any way behind. Many a time, over-speeding vehicles have been stopped and drivers reprimanded by residents. The speed-limit signs have also been put up across the colony but seem to have little effect on errant drivers.
In one such incident, an over-speeding Audi hit the child of a helper. The driver was apprehended by the alert security team. The child sustained injuries and the culprit took the child to Park hospital but vanished soon after. The security team tracked the owner of the vehicle who turned out to be a resident. The car was being driven by a visitor to the house. The resident accepted responsibility for the visitor’s actions and bore the expenses of the treatment.
Residents are once again urged to follow the speed limit themselves and also prevent their family members from driving fast. Small children use the streets for cycling, elderly people take their daily walks around them, and the helpers move around on their bicycles. It is our duty towards others to bear in mind their safety. Not to mention the legal hassles youngsters might get entangled in which might have serious repercussions on their future.
The speed limit for driving in the colony is 20 kmph. Do not cross the limit.
