In India, cricket is not just a game but a framework that keeps us all on the edge.
When India entered the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Final, the ITKT Cultural Committee put together a screening in a jiffy!
On Sunday, 19 November, at 1:30 PM, as both the teams flipped the coin, excitement echoed throughout the society. Residents got together, turning the lawns into a mini cricket stadium, the ambience bombilated team spirit that holds us together.
The evening was full of fun and food. People shared nostalgic memories from historic matches played in the past and some of us ground our teeth and felt the pressure with each ball.
Some practiced and some dismissed Totkas but all to bring the trophy back home after our last win in 2011.
As the match reached its climax, and we all know that we did not win, indeed the cheers died. Yet, residents rejoiced the matches our team had won for us. We consoled the broken hearts. As they say, ‘‘बाँटने से गम कम होता है’’
The success of the World Cup screening at ITKT reminded us of the power of sports fostering unity and creating memories like none other within a community. Even though our faces drooped, and our hearts sank, yet the spirit of the successful event already has the residents waiting for future cricket screenings, eager to continue the tradition of celebrating all our wins together.
We see India excelling in all sports domains and look forward to more such screenings.
Heartfelt gratitude to the selfless and never-ending efforts put in by the ITKT cultural committee! Your unwavering dedication to make each moment special and festive for the residents has not gone unnoticed.
