Dr Ritu Arora (D 41) completed the trek to the Everest base camp. It was a real challenge with unparalleled vistas of the mountains, at -10 C and 5364 m, walking over 10-12 km daily over 8 days. It needed both physical and mental strength – our strong lady has both! Samvada will cover her interesting journey in detail in July issue –something that our readers will definitely look forward to. Piayu! There is no word for piayu in English, just as there can be no words for the nobility of making drinking available to passersby in this scorching heat. A resident in the neighbouring Sector built a Piayu on the main road of the Sector so that anyone passing by can quench their thirst with cool, potable water. With the prolonged heat wave, this act of kindness is very laudable. We can also consider keeping matkas outside our houses.
