Community Plea: Urgent Action Needed to Address Overdue Amenities in Gurgaon

In a heartfelt appeal to the newly installed local authorities, residents, LIKE myself as the General Secretary of ONE OF the Resident Welfare Association (RWA), have raised serious concerns over the deteriorating civic conditions in their locality.

The issues, which have been long-standing and overlooked demand immediate attention to restore the quality of life for Gurgaon’s residents.

Major Issues Highlighted are:

1. Inadequate Street Lighting: Residents report that street lighting in Hamilton

Roads have been non-functional for an extended period, leaving these areas shrouded in darkness and posing safety risks for pedestrians and motorists alike.

2. Safety at Cross Points: The absence of street lights around pedestrian pathways at critical cross points have created hazardous conditions for walkers, prompting calls for urgent installation of lighting to enhance safety.

3. Increasing Beggary: The noticeable rise in the number of beggars in prominent areas such as Galleria and other markets and at each and every traffic signal has become a growing concern. Residents feel that more should be done to address this issue rather than allowing it to escalate. They need other rehabilitation and prohibitions.

4. Disorganized Vendor Presence: The proliferation of small shops, including key makers, cobblers, and tea stalls, ice cream carts, particularly under trees at prime locations, has contributed to chaos and clutter, detracting from the area’s aesthetics and order.

5. Illegal Shops: A significant number of unlicensed shops near Hamilton and Regency Park 2 trunk roads have been identified. The RWA urges authorities to verify licenses and take action against those operating illegally.

6. Market Conditions: The cleanliness and parking facilities around Vyapar Kendra, an important market hub, is in dire need of improvement to enhance the shopping experience for residents.

7. Dog Waste Management: Dog litter on pedestrian paths throughout Phase 4 is rampant. Residents suggest that gated communities and condominiums collaborate to manage pet waste more effectively, ensuring cleaner public spaces.

8. Traffic Congestion: The traffic situation leading to the Cross Point Mall at DLF Phase 4 has become perilous, requiring immediate intervention to alleviate congestion and enhance road safety.

9. Misuse of Public Poles: The unauthorized use of poles for commercial advertisements, including those by ward councillors and property dealers, is rampant. Residents are calling for investigations and enforcement of regulations against this practice.

10. Environmental Concerns: The improper disposal of plastic and other garbage in empty plots has created unhygienic living conditions. There is an urgent need for community clean-up initiatives and stricter enforcement of waste disposal regulations.

11. Shabby Market Conditions: The approach to Golf Course Road near Garden Villas has been marred by vendors selling pottery and other goods, contributing to an unkempt appearance and security issues that detract from the area’s overall appeal.

12. Neglected Internal Roads: Internal roads within residential colonies are suffering from neglect, with potholes and stagnant water becoming commonplace. Residents are calling for regular maintenance to ensure safe passage.

The RWA, and I as supporters of urban sensitization activities, are appealing to the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), the Town and Country Planning Department (TDP), and the Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to take these issues seriously. With a change in local governance, residents are hopeful that the current authorities will prioritize these concerns and mobilize resources to address them promptly. “We are not just voicing complaints; we are seeking solutions, It is time for our leaders to step up and demonstrate their commitment to the welfare of our community.”

Residents of Gurgaon are urged to unite in this call for action, as the collective voice of the community is essential in driving positive change. The time has come for the authorities to listen and respond to the pressing needs of their constituents.
