Malibu prides itself in celebrating all events at the community level, enabling its residents to enjoy each other’s company.
Central Park is the hub of various activities and events during this festival season. ‘Senior Citizen Day’ was celebrated at Central Park on 2nd October and it was a fun-filled evening for the seniors. They had a riot of Laughter in a session by the Laughtarian Club and had fun playing Tambola.
Preparation for Dussehra started in full swing as soon as Navratri started. Various groups of ladies started preparing for their dandiya performances for Dussehra Mela in their colourful attires dancing to the beats of Garba songs in the Central Park. It was a fun-filled few days for both onlookers as well as learners.
On the other end of the Park, the pandal was erected for Ramayan Path and Mata Ki Chowki for Navratri celebrations from 15th October to 23rd October 2023. Daily shringaar of Mata rani was done with great fervour and everybody participated with great reverence.
Dussehra, also called Dasara or Vijayadashami, marks the end of the Navratri festival and is a celebration of the triumph of Rama, an avatar of Vishnu, over the 10-headed demon king Ravana, who abducted Rama’s wife, Sita. Ravana’s effigies are burned to signify the destruction of evil along with fireworks. The festival’s name is derived from the Sanskrit words dasha (“ten”) and hara (“defeat”).
The central park was set up with stalls for lots of shopping, food swings and a lot of fun. Dandiya’s performance by various groups of Malibu Ladies was witnessed by a jam-packed audience at Central Park, followed by non-stop dandiya music and Dandiya dance. Everyone was seen enjoying either at the rides for children or at the food stalls or shopping at the stalls. Some were dancing to the dandiya beats and still some were sitting here and there in the park, soaking in the festivities around them. Finally, around 8 pm Ravan Dahan was performed, symbolizing the victory of good over evil!
From us to you…..
Happy Dussehra! May the truth always triumph; may the good always win over evil. May you be blessed with infinite wisdom. Just like the colours and lights of the festival, may your life be filled with all the joy and prosperity in the world.!
