Frequent electricity disruptions can be a major inconvenience, affecting daily life. In this this advanced and digital era of development where government is spending huge amount of money on upgrading infrastructure however this investment is not visible in government held discoms.
Noida power infrastructure was built when Noida came into existence in 1976.Slightest rain or a wind storm brings down the feeder and the problem continues year on year .Transformers are not able to bear summer load of air conditioners which being a inductive load causes failure of the transformer frequently.
The wiring still entangled with leaves of trees and causes disruption in monsoon season. While billing system has been automated by the discoms, electrical systems needs to be modernized and made underground in sync with Noida’s progress.
However there is lot which can be done by residents to reduce the failures. We should think twice before adding more ACs to our houses which should also be in accordance to connected load of the house. We should replace old ACs with new more efficient ACs whoever there is a possibility.
Tube lights should be replaced with LED ones as they are energy efficient and most important is to switch of the ACs and fans when both in use.We can also deploy solar panels to generate our own electricity and help reduce the load on electrical systems .We should provide regular feedback’s to the discom officials and escalate the issues to get better service from them.
