The lush green tranquil surroundings of the once Gurugram’s rural area is transported into tall buildings, fast tracks, devoid of flora and fauna, skyline of today’s Gurugram. The noisy surroundings still maintained the serene atmosphere and green belts that attracted many from different whereabouts to the Gurugram Green! Thus the place got urbanized and the residents who wanted a little green patch at the back of their houses flocked here.
The shaded green avenues and the presence of many parks would give solace to many until park gobbling machine commenced to do its job, cannibalizing the greens. It was a great setback to the residents, they protested but still managed until the commercialization machine robbed them of the peace they had chosen Sushant Lok for. So many corner houses rented the side shops for various purposes, the pavements got gobbled up by small vendors and many would come to sell their wares taking rounds in the colony!
These vendors not only defaced the Sushant Lok but changed its serenity to noisy, crass environment and they were not the only ones to be blamed as the old houses renovation started to spread their wings and more chimes were added to the motley music! Everyone knows it is against the law to provide residential place for commercial purpose but what happens? No one cares? More legalities will bring in more occupied time outside home, so one conditions oneself to look the other side and carry on with their lives’ chores. Humans!
There is a temple that appeared at the entry of the Sushant Lok B block, residents complaint that there is another one at the end of the lane then why another and that too encroaching the public area! Once the temple is established the upcoming vehicles will have to wait at the main road creating havoc because of the rush at the temple, on different occasions. They are asking to open a charitable clinic, evening school or shelter house where cows, dogs or other strays will find some solace.
There are several houses in C block itself who provide their premises to different companies to distribute their wares, where number of bikers wait and block the road for other residents.
Sushant Lok C block also belongs to the same category, it is badly damaged by such brazen commercial patches, and so many others are mushrooming still. Aware residents are perplexed but don’t have time to stand and stare, authorities are negligent and many find them convenient! David Attenborough says,” Anyone who believes in indefinite growth on a finite planet is either mad, or an Economist. ” We are trying our best to prove him right unless we take the U turn and start paving a green patch and clutter free living for the generations to come.
