We all have heard of a poem “London Bridge Is Falling Down”. The same Poem has been slightly modified, instead of LONDON BRIDGE it’s COLONY BRIDGE.
In the last edition of Samvada we had taken up an article regarding a truck which took a bridge with it.
The same bridge which had a huge cave in thanks to the truck has caved in at many places making it very dangerous for light vehicles to move on it.
Specially with South Delhi Public School right next to it it can become a very dangerous situation for kids using that bridge.
The bridge is very old and was waiting for major repairs with its beams being corroded.
The bridge connects Lajpat Nagar with Kotla and further goes towards Kidwai Nagar which is undergoing redevelopment. Thanks to 200 tonnes construction trucks going over it has further caused damage to it. If we analyse the whole road after the bridge called RLS Marg, it is caving in with water pipeline also damaged because of these overloaded trucks.
The Public works Dept has permanently closed this bridge for restoration and repairs which has resulted in traffic getting diverted in the colony causing traffic jams
Thanks to our MLA Dr Madan Lal who has taken up this issue with authorities in expediting the repair and restoration of the bridge.
