What is the constant in Hamlet for all our celebrations? You guessed it, the clubhouse and the club lawns 🙂
Now let me take you on a little trip to the party venue, only, after a party.
As we enter from the parking side, we see people pulling off all the flowers, banners and everything else they had hung up, removing and stacking all the props, collecting all the utensils, and the staff rapidly clearing any remnants of a celebration with their weapons of brooms and mops.
As we walk towards the lawns, though, all the cleaning efforts then tend to dissipate. No matter what they do, there remain remnants of the celebration, from the burnt circles because of the tandoor being kept there, to broken pieces of glass that often hide between the grass, to some dried petals here and there, random objects and more.
And the menu… Food strewn and merged with the ground, having been accidently spilled and stepped on, even stomped on, a myriad of different chutneys and dips colouring the bare ground in patches where the green grass failed to cover, a mixture of the gravies from a buffet spread that permeated the ground to leave an indelible mark, with a smattering or two of the seasoning!
The sights and smells of the lawn after a do is vividly grotesque to the average morning walker, especially for those engaging in exercises and yoga in the lawns every day; might I add the dangers of stretching with shards of glass strewn around!
In a society proclaimed to be among the better staying experiences in NOIDA, we do see eyesores every now and then, with ground floor balconies bearing the brunt of highly irresponsible behaviour and acts, littering as a common hobby wherever it can be done.
The club lawns, as much as we try to keep them beautiful, do also bear the brunt of ‘people’, leaving them reeling in the wake, to be reclaimed on their own which, alas, seldom happens!
