Why Again This New Competition? Question Residents
During the ongoing Annual Sports Fiesta, the Club suddenly decided to postpone the all-important Badminton Tournament scheduled on 28 Jan. It gave two reasons for postponing it:
1. Our Club MC has resolved to transform our existing outdoor badminton court into a state-of-the-art indoor one, which will take around 2 – 3 months. We are confident that you will agree that playing in the new indoor court will be much more enjoyable and appropriate.
2. Moreover, the weather forecast for it is not promising, as it is likely to be windy and that can hamper the fairness of the game.
We feel the first one was the main reason of change of mind of the committee. The excellent airconditioned badminton court facility made by the RWCS has been intriguing the club committee for a long time. The club feels that it is the club’s prerogative to provide and indoor sports facility to its members and the residents of the sector.
The decision to construct a new indoor court will not add to the existing RWCS facility but harm it in many ways. Club will in all likelihood offer almost free entry for its members. This will erode the RWCS kitty that has been enjoying 7-8 lakhs revenue from its badminton court.
One resident commented, “Why this competition. It will give a bad opinion to outsiders who visit the campus and not aware of the insides of club and RWCS. May God prevail the wisdom.”
We believe the RWCS president put in the C-Block group to have a dialogue with the Club president. But Club President RK Khosla did not respond.
