Club has introduced smart card cashless payment system for its members. This is a great system that will ensure more transparency and better financial management in the club.
Smart card will ensure that the club facilities are used only by its members and no non member or guest will be able to pay for any service inside the club.
Also, there will be no pilferage possible because there will be no cash or credit card transactions possible.
Some members have raised objections citing that it will mean additional work of first getting the card and then getting it recharged every now and then.
A dissatisfied member wrote on a whatsapp group: It doesn’t show any user benefit. And if there’s a benefit to the club administration then you are inconveniencing the member. Why should I prepay another wallet? I already have PayTm, Amazon Pay etc. And If I have to recharge every now and then to avoid keeping a balance, defeats the purpose anyway. I absolutely see no reason for this and cannot comprehend the logic.
However, the benefit to the club is ultimately a benefit to its members. By eliminating non-member usage will itself benefit the members as the club facilities will be available more for them to use.
In the long run the members will get used to the system and feel good about using the card. This has been the experience of the members in other prominent clubs like club 15A.
