Christmas was celebrated on a cold windy Saturday, 24th December, in Silver Oaks. A Christmas tree, Christmas carols and Santa amidst them with gifts was what the children wanted.
This year it was decided to invite residents to put up stalls. The menu was designed to be children oriented with dishes like pasta, noodles, cakes and chocolates. These stalls saw a good number of foot falls. A toy stall enthralled the children.
Santa arrived at 2 o’clock and offered sweets and chocolates to the delighted children. All of them danced around the beautifully decorated Christmas tree. As they clamoured for their gifts, Santa went to the table where the gifts were kept. Parents had bought gifts and deposited them with the office staff, to be distributed by Santa on Christmas.
As soon as their names were called out, they came forward eagerly with smiling faces to receive their gifts from Santa. Some residents braved the cold to sit for sometime and savour the atmosphere while the youngsters gleefully paraded around showing their gifts to everyone.
