Christmas Celebrated By Club This Year With A New Concept

Children Rocked the Show Prepared by Rupa Gupta

Christmas carnivals bring smiles on the faces of children as it is all about fun and merry making. Even the dipping mercury could not deter the kids for coming to the club and sharing the excitement of celebrating the Carnival .This year the management committee and Club President Mr. Khosla thought of giving the event a change from last year’s and for that purpose they engaged an Event Management Company to organize it , which they successfully carried out. They made the attendees happy and contented Decorations with red and white colored balloons, Santa pictures and chritsmas trees starting from the club gate and the full lawn gave a festive look.Parents were happy taking pics of their kids and selfies from different angles with all the Christmas decorations. Santa attracted the kids as he made the kids dance with him on Christmas carols.

Children rocked the show, which involved Ukulele performance, Nativity story, body movement and a wonderful family Christmas story with a great message. The show was conceptualised and prepared by Rupa Gupta, who conducts regular theatre classes at Activity centre, Club26.

There were 10-12 stalls of varios interests for the viewers which consisted of candy bar, popcorns, pizza and homemade cookies and different varieties of cakes which were totally a feast for children . For parents there were stalls in which they could shop other home utility and Woollen items. A Tattoo maker was also there and a long que of kids were waiting for their turn to come.There were many rides and one could see kids dragging their parents for them. Victoria rides as always were among the favorite for kids and for which there was a line from the Club gate to the RWCS gate. The Anchor of the program kept engaging the kids in various games.

The Puppet show and magic show thrilled the kids to the extent that they gathered around the stage and were shouting in excitement.

There was live music and few couple games also for parents.

But the most awaited was the lucky draw gifts sponsored by Mr Khosla which consisted of twenty attractive toys for children which made them hang on till the end of the program.

The Program turned out to be a big hit as there was lots of fun and food all through the day for members.The Pizza stall turned out to be the most profitable throughout the day he was seen selling his yummy pizzas .Other food stalls too were seen engaged selling their products.

A good beginning by the Club. Next year it should be repeated with more Christmas flavours to make it really special!! Let us have a Cooking Contest of Christmas delicacies which we can relish
Christmas is a universal celebration throughout the world. It is meant to spread hope, happiness and good cheer everywhere with its unique flavour. We need to understand the significance of the festival, its history, its traditions and essential unique elements in the celebration and symbolism.

It begins with decorating a Christmas tree in each house ,the midnight mass in the Church on the eve of Christmas and a family feast on Christmas Day. Stuffed Turkey or chicken is the main delicacy along with several cookies and rum soaked cake and the delicious Christmas Pudding. Gifts. are stored under the Christmas tree and later presented to each other.

The Tree The good old Christmas tree is one of the most loved and popular symbols to represent this festival .The Significance of the Christmas tree is believed in a legend that after the birth of Jesus Christ in the winter season, some of the trees shook off the snow and turned green to mark the great event. Thus, the Christmas tree represents permanence and immortality and positivity.

Customary Decoration In the early days, people used to decorate the Christmas tree with food items such as gingerbread and apples. But with time the traditions evolved and now the decorations include electric Christmas lights,tinsel, flashy stars, cut out of many-colored papers, gold foils, artificial snowflakes, and the Christmas bell.

It is said that Santa Claus brings gifts for children on the Christmas Eve and places them under the tree.

The Star The star on top of the tree symbolizes the star of Bethlehem, which led the three men to the stable where Jesus was born.

Candy canes The shape of the candy cane represents a shepherd’s staff. The candy cane shape represents the shepherd’s stick.

These candy canes are used not only as a decoration piece but are also a delicious sweet for kids.

The Wreath According to many theories, the wreath represents the crown of thorns that was put on the head of Jesus when he was crucified.

Bells The Christmas bells are not used on the Christmas tree but huge bells are hung at the entrance.

Lights Lights are used to represent the stars in the sky.
