Greater Kailash II Welfare Association celebrated Christmas by holding a Christmas Carnival on Monday 25th December, 2023 from 11 AM to 9:00PM at M-Block Tikona Park, GK-2.
The venue was secured with CCTV coverage by GKIIWA along with support from Delhi Police and private security guards. Gas heaters in sufficient numbers were used to keep the area warm and comfortable. An ambulance supported by METRO Hospital was also present throughout the day.
A nice sunny day kickstarted the festivities early. There were numerous stalls set up throughout the park, offering a wide variety of products and services. From clothing and accessories to home decor items and handmade crafts, there was something for everyone at the carnival. It allowed many local businesses to showcase their talents and engage with the visitors.
Highlights of the event were Gifts by Santa, Play Games, Kid’s Rides, Shopping, Live Music, Kids Games Activities, Food (various cuisines), and Old Delhi Chaat. Delhi Government, The Muthoot Group, KR Mangalam World School, and Modern Stage Service were our key sponsors.
A children’s talent show was organized and the students of KR Mangalam World School performed too on the stage. All present were given an opportunity to show their talent on stage. This was followed by a Live Musical Program. Finally, there was a Lucky Draw where prizes were given on the spot.
The program was attended by Mrs. Meenakshi Lekhi (MP and Union MOS for External Affairs and Culture) and Mr. Saurabh Bhardwaj (Minister for Health and Culture etc., Delhi Govt). Many other dignitaries and special guests also graced the occasion. Their presence added an extra layer of excitement and significance to the carnival. They took a tour of the stalls, interacted with the visitors, and appreciated the efforts put in by the organizers. Notable was Meenakshi Lekhi ji’s appreciation of celebrated home chef Kanupriya (resident of GK2) who runs her cloud kitchen venture for serving her millet pizza and pasta which was palatable and tasty. She specially invited her onto the stage to applaud her good work
The evening saw an array of dance and song performances with foot-tapping music which had the audience dancing and swaying to English as well as desi beats. The entire ambience was so lively that our esteemed guest Meenakshi Lekhi ji could not resist singing a couple of songs including a Punjabi number which left everyone enthralled.
It was a perfect day with all-round activities. Team members of the GKIIWA worked very hard to make the event a grand success and the residents too enthusiastically participated in the Carnival throughout the day. The carnival provided a great platform for small businesses and artists to showcase while also bringing joy and festive spirit to the entire colony
Overall, the Christmas carnival at Tikona Park in GK2 was a resounding success.
