He has a keen interest in protecting nature. He expressed his views on how to achieve sustainability at the Sustainability Conference on 22-05-24 at PHD House, Delhi as Co-Chair, Textiles Committee of PHD Chamber of Commerce. He mentioned that solution for this problem lies within Indian culture.
He mentioned “Sustainability is one of the most important requirements of mankind on the planet. As you all know, the temperature of the earth is rising. NCR’s temperature has also gone above 49!. So if we do not take care of the environment immediately, then it shall be difficult to sustain life on the planet.
He also expressed that “it is not necessary to run after solutions prescribed by the western world. In our culture we were taught to protect the environment right from our childhood. We did shopping in the cotton and per bags which were reusable or paper bags which are biodegradable. We were eating food on Pattas or Banana leaves in Southern India which decomposed easily. However, after the advent of western technology, all this has eclipsed and now everyone uses plastic which is hazardous to the environment. We worship our rivers like Ganges; plants like Tulsi, Peepal because they are so important to sustain life.
So we have to look into our own systems to protect the environment, to reduce wastage, and use products which can be easily decomposed in the soil and which are reusable. It is very important to teach our kids about protecting the environment right from the beginning and adopt a lifestyle for it.
The views expressed were highly appreciated by the audience.
