Chhath Puja, also known as Chhath Maha Parv, is a significant and widely celebrated festival. This festival is dedicated to the Sun God, Surya, and his sister, Chhathi Maiya. It is celebrated during the Shukla Paksha for four days. Each day’s rituals are unique and hold special importance.
Based on our fellow residents’ initiative – Gareema Verma & Urmila Singh ji performed the Chhath Puja joined by Kiran Srivastava, Kiran Pathania, Savita Sengar and others while supported by Alok Kumar, Harsh Kumar and others.
The Chhath Puja was celebrated with full enthusiasm in the ground between Kalypso and Imperial Towers where a small, temporary pond was built. Many residents from nearby societies also joined the celebrations.
Shakuntla ji (84 years) and her husband JL Srivastava ji were also there to give blessings to the younger generation.
Most significantly, environmentalists claim that the Chhath festival is one of the most eco-friendly religious festivals. True to this, the team here got waste construction material, stones, rubble and garbage cleared from the designated area, making the ground hygienic, and beautifying & preparing it for sports/ games/ amenities.
The Chhath team chased and followed up with the FMG Officials who cleared the ground at the first availability of tractor and trolley. It is also to be appreciated that besides FMG, the team also employed their resources for clearing the debris and then for planning including making the pond for standing in water and performing the puja.
It is also heartening to see that after the Chhath Puja, the team, on their own, cleared the complete area, properly filled the pond and left the area for use by children and residents. We, as fellow residents, are thankful to them for this kindness while also setting example for others.
Finally, say with me – “Chhathi Maiya ki Jai!”
