For all of us living in DLF 2 for a few years, we all face our struggle to walk on the streets.
Recently Mr. Ravi Sharma, residing on N14 lane shared his plight on the absence of pedestrian footpaths in our colony. He shared on a whatsapp group
“As an elder, I am very disappointed by our esteemed and educated residents of dlf2. There is no walking path on the main roads Akashneem marg or jacaranda marg and all the other roads.
The free space has been occupied illegally by residents for their luxury cars and their fencing of planted greens or any other excuse to hijack the side of the road.
I appreciate dlf 1 residents for creating excellent walking paths
We should invite our corporator and chairpersons of associations to walk on the main roads of dlf2. So where do we go for a walk? In our cars !!”
I am sure a large number of us will resonate thoughts with him when we see no footpaths or walkways in our colony. If we have to go to a shop or walk a distance, we literally have to walk on the road and save ourselves from the speeding traffic.
Just a couple of month ago, an elderly passed away after being hit by a vehicle while he was out for a walk.
Though our parks have walking paths, even reaching the nearest park is a struggle at times, not just for our elderly but also for the children.
With encroachments on the roadside as parking spaces and personal gardens, the residents themselves have raised obstacles for others.
I think it’s time to reflect!
