On the occasion of Nirjala Ekadshi, a chabeel was organised by a group of residents on May 31, 2023. The chabeel was set up beside the main road near the Sai Mandir of the sector. Instead of the usual sharbat, the organisers decided to distribute chilled chaach or buttermilk. Chaach itself is very beneficial for the body during summers and an excellent thirst quencher. Around 600 litres of chaach infused with condiments like jeera, pudina, black salt etc was prepared in huge drums. The distribution started at around 12PM and went on till 3PM. As soon as the chabeel started many motorists, two wheeler riders, rickshaw pullers, pedestrians and drivers of autos, buses, trucks etc started pulling over to quench their thirst in the afternoon heat. Many people even got their bottles that they were carrying filled with the tasty beverage. Many people appreciated the effort of the organisers and even appreciated the quality of the beverage being served. Adequate dustbins were also placed by the organisers so that the area was not littered. Housekeeping staff was also present to pick up any empty glasses that may have been thrown on the roads by the people. Also to be environmentally conscious the chaach was distributed in paper glasses and no plastic was used. Around 3000 people and passersby were served chaach. The organisers included yours truly, Vrajesh Baijal, Namit Gautam, Sushildeep Maheshwari, Jolly Sachdeva, Anusuya Singh and Chaya Awasthi.
