Aacharya Jayalakshmi Eshwar
Jayalakshmi Eshwar is an Internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam exponent of par excellence an excellent performer, choreographer, teacher, and author, with her experience spanning more than 5 decades. She graduated in performing arts in 1970 from kalakshetra, Chennai, the pioneering Instutiution for fine arts envisioned and established by Late Padma Bhushan Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale. She is an empanelled and artist of Doordarshan Kendra (Top Grade), Outstanding under ICCR and Ministry of Culuture, GOI. She is the head, Bharatanatyam Section, at Triveni Kala Sangam, Delhi. Besides Bharatanatyam, Jayalakshmi has professional training in Kuchipudi, Odissi, and Seraikela Chhau. She has also enacted as a Tanjore Dancer in the National Award Winning classical Kannada film “HamsaGheethe” by the Late GV Iyer. She has conceptualised and presented numerous innovative thematic dance production both in India and abroad, on stage age Television. Chroographer, Performer & Artistic Director for the production – “Pragathisheel Bhara” at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD-2023) at Indore. January 09, 2023 organised by ICCR, GOI., She is the receipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Senior Fellowship Award for 2003-2005 and Sangeet Natak Akedemi Puraskar for the year 2021. Her most intenationally acclaimed contribution to Bharatanatyam are her 4 instructional books- Bharatanatyam How To, Hastha Pragyoga, Paadha Bhedhah and Nrithya Vidhya supported by audio and video DVDs and an unique educational card game based on all the classical dance forms. She has trained and presendted hearing impared children in 5 production for SUNIYE. A NGO in Delhi. She is a member. Gerenal council of Sahitya Kala Parishad, New Delhi (2021-2023)
