Celebrations In Ram Vihar Sec 30

Ram Vihar lawns saw a huge crowd of residents waiting to see the grand musical show on December 24 to celebrate Christmas cum Year End.

Rupa Roy ( Joint Treasurer G -527) gave a warm welcome speech. The highlights of the events were singing, dancing mainly by children and playing different musical instruments, flash dance by our beautiful Eves and Couple Dance by our Veterans. This was followed by music programme.

The evening began with an Assamese Bhakti dance performed by twin sisters Ira and Aria (B- 608). There was perfect coordination and a beautiful depiction of emotions in their performance. Saisha Vyas (F – 424) played the harmonium and sang a song on Azadi. Akshat Aggarwal (G – 226) took the breath away with his fusion and break dance. Saisha Kathuria (E – 319) gave a scintillating dance performance on ‘Makhana’, a Bollywood song. Dhairya Dhiman (D – 413) played the guitar and sang a popular Bollywood number ‘Kesariya’. Snehal Sabharwal (G – 228) a very talented dancer could not perform due to a minor accident. Never the less she got a huge round of applause when her earlier dance video was screened for the audience. Kashvi Chatterjee (D – 716) and Suman Arora (A- 701) sang beautiful Hindi numbers in their sweet and melodious voice. Suman Arora, working as Joint Secretary in Parliament House took out time to entertain us. Kaajal from Abhivyakti Cultural Forum gave a power-packed performance on a medley of songs.

Young Divas of Ram Vihar, Sarabjeet Singh (F- 522), Sonali Chatterjee (D -716), and Shweta Sabharwal (G -228) along with their daughters set the stage on fire with their flash dance. This indeed was the icing on the cake. Aditi Dhiman (D – 413), a software engineer along with Rita Varma (C- 001) were of great help in video editing and showing the various slides of ppt. on the big screen. Mehal Sabharwal (G – 228) helped as a choreographer, Emcee, Kashvi Chatterjee and Snehal Sabarwal.

Keeping the cold weather in mind, in between the show, hot beverages like tea, coffee and tomato soup were served to all, free of cost.

Last but not least the secretary put in a lot of effort in putting up the show with the help of Shweta Sabharwal (G – 228). Shweta was the coordinator who very readily accepted the responsibility and worked very hard along with the secretary in synchronizing with all the practices. The veteran couples were applauded by all for their sporting spirit and dancing on old and gold numbers. They proved that age is just a number.

After the variety programme, the musical group took over. The audience got to experience a blend of evergreen songs which were interspersed with the audience taking to the dance floor.

Soon after the musical programme, prizes were given to all the participants for putting in so much of effort. The programme culminated with a vote of thanks by the president. Later the residents joined for a piping hot and scrumptious buffet dinner. The evening was very memorable and enjoyed by one and all. We look forward for more occasions like this where we can explore more talent from our young and elderly crowd.
