At the recently held Noida Flower Show 2025, the residents of Eldeco Utopia are thrilled to receive First Position in the Residential Gardens Society category for the second consecutive year!
This year’s success can be largely attributed to the thoughtful actions of our former Horticulture in-charge, Arti Videh. Under her guidance, a variety of flowers, including Hollyhocks, Calendula, Alyssum, Malva (Mallow), and Babuna, grown from seeds preserved from last year’s plantation. This not only saved us a lot of money but also impressed the judges; particularly the Nasturtiums, which were grown from these seeds and showcased the vibrant colours and health of our gardens. Adding to our gardening efforts, Smiti Kumar volunteered to join the Horticulture Committee and her commitment to nurturing plants aligned perfectly with our goal of beautifying our premises this year too.
During the evaluation, the judges not only appreciated our gardens and lawns but also took the time to educate us with valuable tips for maintaining tree health. One insightful discussion centred around the differences between yellow and white Babuna. The judges told us that the yellow variety attracts better pollinators, emphasizing the importance of preserving more seeds from that variety to enhance our gardens’ biodiversity. We are incredibly thankful to the judges and the volunteers who visited us and many other societies, dedicating their time and energy to observe the gardens and keep meticulous records.
No garden can truly flourish without the unwavering dedication of our gardeners. Their tireless efforts and skilled hands are the heartbeat of our green spaces, transforming visions into vibrant reality. Under the able guidance of our horticulture supervisor, Riyaz, the team of gardeners did an excellent job at extracting and preserving seeds, developing the seedlings in our nursery, and transplanting them to the appropriate locations at the right times for healthy growth. A special mention must also be made of our contractor, Mr Salim. His enthusiasm and proactive approach to keep our gardens healthy have been invaluable. Salim goes above and beyond, often starting work without expecting any payment upfront and preparing everything in advance. His genuine love for his work is evident, and his presence allows us to be worry-free and assured of the best results.
We would also like to express our gratitude to the Floriculture Society of Noida, which not only organizes the annual flower festival but also encourages societies, institutions, and individuals to showcase the beauty of nature. Their efforts provide a platform for the community to learn more about horticulture and engage with the wonders of the natural world.
