On the 8th of March, Efforts Group orchestrated a delightful celebration in honor of International Women’s Day at the Recreation Centre cum library. The event was a vibrant amalgamation of tradition, creativity, and empowerment, bringing together women from all walks of life to revel in the spirit of womanhood. The festivities commenced with an air of excitement as attendees were treated to tea and snacks, setting the stage for a day filled with camaraderie and inspiration. The highlight of the event was a captivating ramp walk, where ladies of all ages, including the esteemed super seniors of our colony aged 80 years and above took center stage. Bedecked in resplendent saris and adorned with exquisite jewelry, these remarkable women exuded grace and elegance as they strutted down the runway, captivating the audience with their timeless charm. Adding to the allure of the occasion was a spirited recipe contest, where participants showcased their culinary prowess by crafting delectable dishes inspired by seasonal fruits. Judged on various criteria including nutritive value, presentation, taste, and creativity, the competition showcased the ingenuity and skill of the contestants, highlighting the diverse talents within the community. As the festivities unfolded, cultural performances by children infused the atmosphere with youthful energy, further enriching the celebration. The birthday of Professor Nirmala, a beloved member of the community, was also commemorated with heartfelt warmth and affection. Her son Sandeep and daughter-in-law Minakshi presented a cake, symbolizing not only a personal milestone but also the collective spirit of unity and kinship that pervaded the event. Dr. Surinder Katoch, the effervescent compère of the event, lent her vivacity and wit to the proceedings, engaging the audience with insightful commentary and uplifting anecdotes. In addition to her lively hosting, Dr. Katoch delivered a talk on healthy lifestyle practices, imparting valuable tips and knowledge to empower women to prioritize their well-being. In recognition of their exemplary contributions and unwavering resolve, prizes were bestowed upon several esteemed women of substance, including Professor Nirmala, Mrs. Batra, Dr. Jha, and other iconic figures of SJ Enclave. To culminate the festivities on a savory note, attendees were treated to a delectable spread of Dilli ki chaat and local delicacies, adding a flavorful finale to an unforgettable celebration of womanhood.
