I could start off my little article talking about the importance of Diwali and how Carlton hosted a super successful mela after being stuck by pandemic…but that would be just too monotonous and cliched. So, let me start with something Diwali truly stands for- a festival of giving, sharing and receiving blessings in form of love and gifts.
The Diwali this year at Carlton commenced with gifting our knights in shining armours (guards) to the very capable ground staff a beautiful bonus (given by the very kind residents) along with some mithai’s because after all, what is Diwali without some mithai? Nonetheless, it was a moment cherished by the staff and their faces were beaming of joy.
As the evening approached, so did the music!! Peering through my windows as I was busy dressing up were the tunes of latest Bollywood tracks followed by the echoes of what I deduced was a comparer. Curiosity, kills the cat they say… And the cat in me peered through my window to see a garden glimmering with people in their shiny Diwali outfits. Adults were truly spoilt for choice in the food section with cuisines ranging from Chinese to our very desi chaat whilst the kids could not get enough of jumping on the trampoline. Obviously, the teens cladded in the very trendy outfits were either found dancing to the tunes of the DJ or ransacking a food stall.
But you might say this happens everywhere!! Right? Well, how many Melas try to create eco awareness by giving out free eco-friendly bags for shopping to everyone who attends? And now honestly, how many senior citizens have you seen playing cards in the middle of a mela? I’m sure not many!! So next time you want to experience what fun at a mela is – Come join us at Carlton, where every festival is celebrated with much gusto! Whereas for me- well darlings! I was doing what I do best- observing under the pretense of getting a tarot reading done.
