RWA Holds Emergency Meeting with DCP
The quiet and affluent neighborhood of SDA has recently been rocked by a surge in vehicle thefts, creating a sense of urgency and alarm among its residents. The Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) took swift action by convening an emergency meeting with senior police officials to address the escalating situation. Over the past few weeks, several luxury cars and motorbikes have been reported stolen directly from in front of residents’ homes. Among the most notable incidents was the theft of a Toyota Fortuner from house number C-4/5 and a brand new Kia Seltos belonging to Col. Grover from house number C/4/54. These bold thefts have sent waves of panic throughout the community, prompting the RWA to call for immediate intervention. In response to the crisis, the RWA organized an urgent meeting with Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Meena, who was accompanied by the ACP, SHO, and the local beat staff. During this critical discussion, the RWA laid out several key demands to bolster security and restore peace of mind for SDA residents.
Key Demands from the RWA:
1. Regular Patrolling by Constables: The RWA requested the allocation of two constables for daily and nightly patrols, with at least three rounds of patrolling scheduled at 1 PM, 5 PM, and 11 PM. – The 1 PM patrolling is aimed at removing vendors and other unwanted elements. – The 5 PM patrolling focuses on ensuring the safety of women and children in the parks by removing any suspicious or unwanted individuals. – The 11 PM patrolling ensures that no unauthorized persons remain in the colony after the gates are closed. 2. Dedicated Constables at Main Entrances – The RWA suggested deputing constables at the main entrance of NKP Marg, near the Aurobindo Market side. They offered to provide a guard room with basic facilities for these constables to handle law and order situations effectively and maintain a visible police presence. 3. Full-Time Presence of constables:- It was emphasized that the assigned constables should not be diverted to other duties, ensuring that two constables are present in the society at all times. 4. Enhanced CCTV and Lighting The RWA identified the need for floodlights at the entrance and exit points of the society to enhance the effectiveness of existing CCTV cameras. – They also highlighted several dark spots within the neighborhood that require proper lighting to deter criminal activities. 5. Installation of Signage: To improve security, the RWA requested the installation of 15 signage points throughout the SDA. Agreements reached with DCP Meena: DCP Meena responded positively to the RWA’s concerns and agreed to implement several measures to enhance security in the SDA: 1. Permanent Police Presence: – At least one police personnel will be present in SDA at all times to provide a continuous security presence. 2. Night Patrolling and Halting Points: – A designated halting point for night patrols will be established at the Aurobindo Market entrance, with multiple registers set up for officers to log their entries. – Additional personnel (2-3 officers) will patrol the society during the daytime. 3. Addressing Dark Spots: – The list of identified dark spots will be prioritized and sent to relevant authorities for immediate action to improve lighting and visibility. 4. Combined Meeting for Gate Closure: – A combined meeting will be organized to discuss the possibility of closing the gate near the post office, enhancing overall security. 5. Public Drinking Monitoring: – The community was encouraged to report any instances of public drinking, which will be dealt with promptly. 6. Request for Traffic Signage:** – A request will be made to the DCP Traffic for additional signage to improve safety and order within the SDA. The proactive steps taken by the RWA and the cooperative response from the police officials offer hope for a swift resolution to the vehicle theft crisis in SDA.
