Urgent Need for Enhanced Security Measures
On October 5, 2024, a car was stolen from a resident of D-824, 2nd Floor, New Friends Colony, highlighting the growing security concerns in the area. This is not an isolated incident; thefts have become more frequent, leaving residents increasingly worried. Despite raising these issues with Delhi Police, including SHO NFC R.K. Jain and DCP SE Rajesh Deo, no comprehensive action plan has been implemented to safeguard the colony.
Residents are now demanding immediate intervention and a thorough safety strategy to protect their homes and streets. The absence of effective measures not only compromises the security of residents but also undermines the overall liveability of this once-peaceful neighbourhood.
Adding to the problem is the unchecked illegal encroachment and unauthorised parking along the colony’s roads. These issues dominated by local parking mafias, further compromise safety and complicate enforcement by authorities. Even after the encroachments were cleared during high-profile events like the G20, they have returned, indicating a lack of sustained enforcement.
New Friends Colony urgently requires a comprehensive security plan that addresses both rising criminal activity and the root causes of illegal encroachments and parking violations. The residents deserve better, and the time for decisive action is now. We call upon Delhi Police to step up and ensure the safety and well-being of the colony’s residents.
