Afew instances have come to light where the chauffeurs employed at GK-2 homes surreptitiously sell petrol from the fuel tanks of their employers‘ cars to a local taxi stand at a negotiated price.
This collusion between the taxi stand owner and the chauffeurs results in a win-win situation for both at the expense of the car owners.
As per the modus operandi adopted in such cases, cars are driven to the taxi stand where the drivers siphon off fuel from the fuel tank of the car and sell it to the taxi stand owner for which they receive their illegal gratification on the spot.
A little amount of fuel getting siphoned off from multiple cars every now and then becomes a huge volume for the taxi stand but does not get noticed by the individual car owners. The chauffeurs end up making a tidy sum of money on the side. The pilfered fuel finds its way into the tanks of the taxis run by this taxi stand. Everything fitted perfectly well and this racket was going on unhindered until a car owner discovered it by chance and blew the lid off this fraud.
Things cooled off for a while but have resumed again. As they say, forewarned is forearmed. The car owners would do well to keep a tab on the fuel consumption of their chauffeur managed cars.
