Walk a mile in someone’s shoes is the advice often given. Indra Jasuja, a resident of Silver Oaks, has walked in all sorts of shoes, being a cancer survivor and then a care giver for her husband, who sadly succumbed to the disease. She’s been there and knows first-hand what it’s like and what is needed. She’s also well qualified for her chosen role of care giver and supporter having degrees in psychology and a diploma in medical and social psychology.
She is also a clinical psychologist and has dealt with drug addicts and psychiatric patients. She has undergone a course on palliative and terminal care and works with such cases and their care givers in a number of prestigious hospitals, giving emotional support. This journey of giving so much to society is 23 years long.
Mrs Jasuja holds the post of Hon Joint Secretary – patient engagement in the Indian Cancer Society, Delhi branch. The posts she has held in the past include Vice President of breast cancer unit and President of Cancer Sahyog.
