The Chief Secretary of Haryana State, Sanjeev Kaushal announced a comprehensive policy for the installation of gas pipelines within a speciûed time frame.
He further invited representations and complaints from individuals. Fortunately, the issue has found a place in political circles as parties in their declarations by way of Sankalp patra. Even the dynamic Prime Minister has often highlighted the issue of the supply of gas to consumers in a cheap way.
Even the lethargic Haryana Gas Agency issued a press note about a month ago announcing that litigation between the agency and Indraprastha Gas Ltd. over the distribution license (IGL) causing hurdles since 2005 has been resolved last year. Currently, about 50000 households in the city get supply from HCG. IGL supplies another 100000 householders. In a recent press note, the Managing Director of HCG confirmed the installation of 50 CNG stations. He also announced his plans for 1 lakh domestic PNG connections every year for the next 3 years to cover 3 lac households. Funds to the tune of Rs. 500 crores are being slated for investment in Gurgaon.
We are happy about announcements as PNG is a relatively cheaper alternative while providing safety to consumers and avoiding transportation costs through trucks of LPG cylinders. The movement of LPG cylinders causes a lot of noise.
We must thank our MP, Rao Inderjit Singh, for all the efforts behind the declaration of these plans.
