But I Didn’t

One evening at about 9 pm, I was standing in my balcony and what I saw put me in a reflective mood. There were three young girls and a boy were sitting on the roadside and watching something on the laptop. I got very amused watching them. To my surprise they filled something in a cigarette and rolled it and then lighted it. All of them shared this cigarette. I immediately called my security guard and asked him to enquire as to what they were upto. When the guard approached them, they walked away.I told my staff to click a picture of theirs but before we could do all this, they disappeared. I realised that the youngsters are not greedy for cars or gadgets but they are want our time,love and affection which is so beautifully explained in the poem. – I looked at you and smiled the other day, I thought you’d see me but you didn’t. – I said “I love you” and waited for what you would say I thought you heared me but you didn’t, – I asked you to come outside at play ball with me, I thought you’d follow me but you didn’t – I drew a picture for you to see, I thought you’d save it but you didn’t – I made a fort for us back in the woods, I thought you’d camp with me but you didn’t – I needed you just to back to me, and share my thoughts with you, I thought you’d want to, but you didn’t – I asked you share my youth with me, I thought you’d want to but couldn’t – My country called me to war, you asked me to come home safely But I didn’t.
