The April 28th edition of Books in the Park received an overwhelming response, particularly to our call for donating textbooks. A significant number of textbooks were picked up by book lov-ers, leaving around five cartons of textbooks that were despatched to Noida Public Library. A big jhappi to folks who donated textbooks. We assure you these textbooks will land in the right hands.
Ruchi Kulshreshth from Hyde Park, Sector 78, was very happy to receive a collection of textbooks for junior classes. “I am very happy to find the exact books I was looking for my kids. This donation drive also reduces our carbon footprint by re-circulating books.”
A grandfather rummaged through the pile of books to pick up story books for his two years old granddaughter, and, sure enough, he picked up half a dozen beautifully illustrated books.
Noticing the high standard of a set of four books for the M Tech course on Electronics and Telecommunications, Gurvinder Sital, Daryaganj member, has retained them for the next edition of Daryaganj. Any reader interested in these books may get in touch.
The selection of passages from literary classics presented at the Open Mic Recitations was captivating and inspiring.
Shrishti Deb, from Sector 119, and studying in Class VIII, recited an excerpt “Krishna ki Chetavani” from Rashmirathi by Shri Ramdhari Singh Dinkar. Anuja Agrawal, from Mahagun Morpheus, Sector 50, recited an excerpt from Premchand’s classic story, Namak ka Daroga.
Sangeeta Tingal, from Mahagun Manor, Sector 50, recited an excerpt from Maithali Sharan Gupt’s “Yashodhara”
Kapil Pandey, storyteller, who also moderated Open Mic, decided to add a dash of humor and satire by reciting Kaka Hathrasi’s satire Dhanush Kisne Thoda.
Suniti Karbanda (Sector 37), an author of short stories, spoke about her journey of writing. She shared a few copies of her book that will be returned in the next edition of Daryaganj.
A gratifying offer was made by Prof. SK Gaur (IAS Retd.), resident of Amrapali Eden Park, Sector 50, during the Open Mic. Any student who wishes to receive counseling on how to face the Interview Board in the Civil Services Examination may approach him.
