Author : Ms. Vasudha Rai
This month let’s take a different path on ‘Literary Street’. The book, I have chosen
is, “RITUALS” – Daily Practices for Wellness, Beauty & Bliss. It is authored by
Vasudha Rai’s and is her second publication on wellness. She is young by any
yardstick, but, her writings and in depth understanding of the cosmic forces and
their effect and relationship on our wellness and inner being is pure, authentic,
old world.
Most of you who are fitness and wellness freaks beyond the fashionable gym
muscle culture, would enjoy reading this book.
Once again, as in the case of our singing sensation, Sanaa Garde, the author has a
Southcity-I connection. Her father, a distinguished veteran, Lt. Gen. Narendra S
Kadian, is a resident of N-131. The excerpt of what he sent in on request is as
under :-
“Vasudha Rai’s second book “Rituals” is out and continues to be the No. 1
bestseller since its launch in Oct 2022. While her first book, “Glow” explained
Indian foods, recipes and rituals for beauty, this second book dwells on daily
‘kriyas’ that harmonize the natural energies. The book is divided into two parts.
The first, ‘Sun’ which covers the trinity of purify, energize and focus (as in inner
‘urjaa’) and the second ‘Moon’, and its three ‘prehers’ of nurture, heal and rest.
The Sun section covers daytime rituals and the Moon section the late evening and
night ones. These rituals, in practice since ancient times, dwell on the three
essentials of wellness, ‘nurture, heal, rejuvenate’. The book encourages us to ‘get
away from the world of devices’ and go back to nature to self-heal. In Vasudha’s
words, ‘When you peel away the superstition and religious alignments, rituals are
just tools to refine, pacify, simulate and heal our body and spirit’.
Wishing you wellness and happy reading till the next review.
