The DCWA Club and The Gracious Living Foundation (GLF) hosted a book discussion on Sat, 23 Sep on “How Prime Ministers De-cide”, by the author, eminent senior journalist, Neerja Chowdhury, with Maj Atul Dev moderating the discussion.
To quote Rajeev Suri, the book is “engrossing, unputdownable and riveting read”; it takes you behind the scenes and ferrets out many hitherto unknown facts, backroom machinations, palace intrigues and the many (political) compulsions that Prime Ministers face in taking incontrovertible decisions, dictated purely for short term gains, to save their Governments and their chairs. Some decisions like imposition of the Emergency, the Shah Bano case, the opening of the locks of the Ayodhya temple, implementation of the Mandal Commission Report, to name a few, have had far reaching, irreversible disastrous consequences on the polity of our country.
The discussion was very professionally conducted with the audience hanging on to every word in pin drop silence. It was, without doubt, one of the best book discussions. I applaud The DCWA Club and The Gracious Living Foundation for arranging this event and look forward to more such high-quality events.
