Dear readers, “Happy New Year”! Beginning new year, I feel happy to share the joy of nature in our Silver City complex. While you walk along the driveway, on the first turn different colours of hibiscus catch your eyes and so do bunches of chrysanthemum in different hues. Different figurines and evergreens attract you to have a closer look. Every plant and pot has a story to tell. It seems they are nurtured by an artist. Recycled pots made from toilet water tanks using ceramic murals on them. They are attractive and have aesthetic value. Vertical garden using the used bottles is just amazing.
As you move on you come to the gate of the main garden and have a signboard saying “Benzy’s Garden”. It has a welcoming appeal. As you enter, ceramic murals on the walls catch your eye – beautiful peacock, a lady’s figure and a beautiful display of evergreen annuals.
Minute detailing and display of various pots and figurines transform the place into beautiful serenity where one could spend hours listening to the chirping of the birds, buzzing of honeybees and fluttering butterflies.
Creating an award-winning garden in a condominium involves thoughtful design, plant selection and maintenance, which also includes considering native plants, efficient irrigation and eco-friendly practices to enhance sustainability. She is a landscape artist, who has helped many curate their gardens.
I could see birds coming in her garden early morning to bathe on the tiny water droplets on the leaves. Drinking water and bathing in the bowls kept for them. Fluttering butterflies were the main attraction; not one but many hovering around the flowers for its nectar. What a scenic beauty!
On the table lies a small pencil pot with a bunny having two yellow blooms of chrysanthemum and with many more buds to bloom. Only one with green fingers, patience and having a good knowledge of plants and gardening can achieve this excellence. Trees of harshingar, aanar and banana, and creeper of paan were other attractions. Fifteen years old champa stands tall and mighty.
No doubt that’s why Nandini Arya’s Benzy’s Park won the first prize in the Silver City garden competition.
