Last Sunday l attended a Breakfast gathering in S block Rock Garden on an invite. lt was a bright and sunny morning. Morning walkers of that park have taken the initiative for this kind of bonhomie amongst themselves as also contributing to the upkeep of the park. The motive behind this effort was to Know Thy Neighbour better and interact with each other as a family.
The food that was laid on the table was catered for. Basically, the seniors feel comfortable meeting each other at a common place rather than arranging for all this in their individual houses. The cuisine differs from time to time making people happy to welcome the change in the eatables.
Since l was new to this group l could not figure out who took the initiative to arrange it . All that l could notice was that all were involved in looking after each other. Many of them were forthcoming to help and overall everybody was comfortable. Such interactions not only reassure the senior citizens that they are there for each other, making them emotionally strong and promoting social harmony among them. The contributions made by residents in terms of money and time have helped in building friendships and camaraderie in the community.
All the members together pursue their passion be it gardening or just discussing issues common to everyone’s life. Same age group feels secure among themselves since birds of the same feathers flock together. They are happy to spend money to create an eco-friendly environment leaving a healthy and Green surroundings for their future generation to cherish.
M block also has a similar tradition among morning walkers who enjoy their morning tea and goodies brought from their respective homes. They look forward to such companionship. I urge the residents of our colony to come forward with such initiatives to make this life blissful.
