Loneliness has always been a curse. It is more so in times of internet, fast – paced life and uncaring children. This being lonely bug bites not only old but the young lot too. That is why you hear stories of suicides and crimes being committed by a frustrated younger generation.
But our immediate concern is the middle – aged and the older lot.
Everyone has a right to be happy; to shoo away the loneliness. Everyone is carrying a story of his/ her own – joys, sorrows and struggles every individual faces daily. Essentially, every story has hope and an instinct to find happiness.
Happiness has a way of crawling into life and teaching how important it is to have friends. Or pets, people with same interests, flowers: It is perception of love which ultimately brings joy.
It can be an old man and a comparatively younger woman. Society ridicules them. Then, there are those from different religions. There are social and family dilemmas for everyone.
People who have lived abroad may have realized that life need not be a child – based institution. Children, despite the fact that they themselves are living in a live-in relationship, deny their parents trying to find happiness with a world around ever ready to ridicule.
The parents finally give up. Until one day, they realize that their children are being selfish. They no longer need them. Finally, it all comes around and they rebel. Though not all.
This is not just a philosophical piece of writing. We can save lives by just listening to older people; they just need to talk.
