Tambola is a gambling game of sorts. We notice that the Club is popularising the game by organising Grand Tambola events on Sundays in a big way. Families, including young children, participate and enjoy the game without realising what we are inculcating in our children who are also tasked with cash to buy tickets. Exclusive 15A was never a Tambola-centric Sector. It always promoted more intelligent and competitive games and sports. Our Club should rethink Tambola as an entertainment because unknowingly we could produce a dumb, gambling-minded young generation in the years to come.
The following are the thoughts posted by Rajesh Malik:
Sunday, 16th June ‘24, my wife and I were at the Club for our dinner amid a cosy and comfortable ambience. Not finding even a single seat even after 40 minutes, we had to settle for the exterior/open lounge and lose our appetite in the prevailing extremely hot and humid conditions! Why? Because of Grand Tambola there were 180 -205 guests (confirmed these numbers at the Reception) relishing their drinks and food in comfortable a/c surroundings!
Obviously and sadly enough, the character of the Club has remained non-residential and commercial. Factually speaking, this has become a way of life and the norm at most of our mega Club events and there is an urgent need to review and implement the guest rules lest the Club eventually becomes a commercial pub like the ones in Sector 18 market for non-members!
As per the original rules, the restrictions upon guests must be 30 days in a year and which must be monitored and recorded against each member’s allowable quota. Temporary members, who do not have the right to vote, cannot be treated on par with permanent members!
