A Little Sunshine On The Plate
Spring was officially welcomed this time at Silver Oaks with their Basant Food Festival on Saturday, 24th February outside the Community Center. On the day of the event, the Sun God was shining down like he was the guest of honour. The setup looked like someone spilled a giant bottle of sunshine all over the place – bright hues of yellow and orange. An idol of Goddess Saraswati was beautifully adorned and placed at the centre, inviting attendees to offer their prayers and seek blessings. During the event, the children graced the stage with their talented dance performances. People showed up dressed in shades of yellow, and the whole place looked like a field of human sunflowers.
The stars of the show were the incredible residents who poured their hearts and creativity into setting up the stalls with Basant-themed delights. The elaborate menu comprised an exquisite selection of dishes – refreshing corn chaat, light and airy dhoklas, crunchy sindhi dal pakwan, aromatic meethe chawal and namkeen chawal, velvety dahi bada, tangy and spicy dahibada chaat with aloo and matar ki sabzi, amazing dhuska (a regional favourite), classic idly sambhar with chutney, rich moong dal halwa, freshly made Ladoos, kesariya rabri with creamy richness, heavenly trifle pudding – every dish carefully crafted and lovingly prepared by the residents. Who knew one could taste spring in every bite? The Food Festival offered a comforting embrace of home-cooked goodness, along with the joy of being surrounded by the good company of friends and neighbours.
Ambience Public School (Gurgaon) also participated and organised unique Letter and Number Art, and a series of engaging races, and distributed gifts too to the participating kids, contributing to the overall enjoyment of the event.
And that is how an ordinary day turned into a sun-soaked celebration of colour, flavour, and togetherness at Silver Oaks.
