Banned..?? Is This The Only Solution?

by Vaishali (E-1403, 9650012768)

Now a days we hear a word ‘banned’ very often.Like polythene is banned, fire crackers are banned, burning stubble, using DGset etc, banned. At this point of time
when we are one of the leading countries why things need to be banned?
As a responsible and educated citizen this question should come to our mind that why should there be an agency to tell us that what is harmful or what is best for us? Humans are the only creatures with well developed brain but unfortunately we do not put it to good use.
In fact its an irony that in spite of knowing the adverse effects of various things, we ignore it. We know the harmful effects of pollution and yet we don’t think of reducing or preventing it. Similarly we are aware that polythene cannot be recycled and burning it produces toxins; still its very much in use.
Whenever there is a ban on crackers on Diwali , many raise objections that why is Diwali the chosen festival to ban crackers. That is because we don’t keep a check on the limit. Come Diwali and we burst we burst crackers as if there is no tomorrow. There seems to be running competition on bursting crackers ;forgetting that the pollution we create is going to affect the health of our children and elderly people right from the next morning. Even if one wins the debate that ‘why only Diwali’, everyone is a loser when it comes to health. Have you observed the pollution level on the next day of diwali? We are not able to open our windows. We have to buy air purifier. Why ….why…and why is the question?
If we restrict ourselves from firing limited crackers which is always fun then there is no need to ban it. We can enjoy beautiful nature in winter without mask.
This Diwali please restrict yourself to fire limited crackers even if it is available free. It is our responsibility to save environment, Mother Nature from imbalance. If not then either government or nature would interfere to balance. Have a happy and healthy Diwali!
