The managing committee of S Block Society was pleasantly surprised when the chief manager of BOB, GK 1 branch, Trilok Kumar informed that the bank has chosen SBWS to give a grant of Rs Twenty-five thousand to it, under their CSR initiative. The managing committee decided to buy a 2-ton Voltas window AC, deciding to bear the extra cost, over & above Rs. Twenty-five thousand, from its resources.
The need was long felt for this item as during summers it was difficult to hold various camps like P Tax, VBD training camps, health checkup camps & several sr. citizens meet with Police & other departments.
Accordingly, the AC with a stabilizer etc. was installed & inaugurated by the Chief manager of the bank on 30 Jan, ‘24.
SBWS has already got a regular BSES connection for its office since 2017.
Incidentally, this office having tables, 45 chairs, fans, lights, Wi Fi & land line connection, a huge number of books on various topics, was inaugurated by Meenakshi Lekhi in the year 2018. It serves as a library too & residents can borrow books. Many donors have contributed/donated books over the past many years. No other RWA in the vicinity has got such a facility with so many features.
Many VIP’s during their several visits to S Block have praised SBWS for maintaining the facility.
For the information of new residents, let me share that this rain shelter was built thru the funds of our MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj in the year 2015. However, due to some issues, the contractor did half the job & disappeared. Even the floor was not constructed. SBWS pooled in its resources, donors like Mr Singla & Mr Mohatta joined hands & completed the project. Various facilities were created over the years.
