Backlanes, are there for the convenience of residents. They are meant to be used in case of emergency, like in case of outbreak of fire. Water tankers can enter through the back lane in case of shortage of water. The actual use forgotten, back lanes are now being used as dump yards, by the residents. Any con struction work leaves the backyard in a mess. Often residents forget to get the lanes cleaned after their homes are beautified. This mess makes the back lane inaccessible in case of emergency. (Contributed by Sangeeta Jindal)
