The Athena Shiv Mandir was established on March 4, 2019, on the holy day of Shiv Ratri by a group of residents that included R.K.S Chauhan, Rakesh Babbar, R.L Rambal, Sudhir Puri, Sunil Saxena and Sunil Mathur. The idols of Shiv Parivar were installed so that the residents could offer prayers. A very senior resident, late Omkar Prashad Sharma and his wife Shakuntla Sharma started looking after the temple. The residents thereafter formed a trust named ‘Apex Athena Utahn Charitable & Welfare Trust ‘ and took over the charge to build a large temple in the society. The Apex Athena Utahn Trust and Athena Welfare Society asked the builder to build a proper structure for the temple as it was housed in a temporary shed. The builder built the basic structure and the rest was built by donations from residents’ and other people from outside the society.
There was a three-day Pran Pratishtha programme from January 20 to January 22, 2024, which started with the Kalash Yatra on January 20 at 8 AM. 121 women and 150 other devotees took part in the Kalash Yatra. After this, along with the Vedika puja that was done by Satish Kumar Tomar and his wife, the other rituals of Pran Pratistha were started which continued till 2 PM and after Jaladhivas, floral tributes and aarti took place.
The next day on January 21, 2024 from 8 AM to 2 PM, all the rituals of Pran Pratistha were completed which included Annadhivas , Phaladhivas , Pushpadhivas etc. On the third day i.e. on January 22, from 8 AM onwards, after Panchopachar puja, Dugdhadhivas and Mishtanadhivas , the idols were taken on a Sector tour which took place from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM and a huge crowd participated in it. After this procession, the idols were installed at their respective places and consecrated by 21 Acharyas chanting vedic mantras. In the end, about 125 people participated in the holy havan and the programme was halted for three hours for the aarti and distribution of prasad.
There was a bhajan sandhya and musical evening from 5 pm to 7 pm. Offerings were made to the Lord and Mahaprasad was served to more than 2000 devotees.
