DDA park (Atal Park) opposite W block of Greater Kailash -1 is most preferred destination by morning and evening walkers. Every morning and evening the park gets walkers (men, women and youth) from W, C, M, S, E and B blocks of Greater Kailash-1 and Kailash colony. Youngsters from Zamrudpur come for jogging to stay fit. The park gets walkers coming from all professions, doctors, lawyers, business, housewives, retired judges and senior officials etc.
The park has many distinguishing features. Best part of the park is its wide walking / jogging track. More than eight feet wide track gives enough space to groups to walk and talk without blocking way of walkers coming from opposite side or wanting to overtake them.
The park has an open gym which walkers use after finishing their walk to get daily dose of exercise. Plants and green grass are soothing to eyes and give freshness to the air in the park. Park has enough lights for late evening walkers to feel safe.
Morning walkers who come around 6.30 am in Summer and 7.00 am in Winter get a special treatment with prayer bells from Pahari wala Shiv Temple ringing and making the walk enjoyable and soothing.
While the park gets a number of pets accompanied in lease by their masters, there is absolute discipline regarding where they would go. Walking track is not allowed to be used by pets. Pets are allowed to roam around in dedicated area and the masters take care to remove the poo if any to avoid any inconvenience to walkers.
