A constant threat!
Our Sector-50, especially the F block, has recently become the victim of several criminal incidents taking place. There has been a severe increase in activities like theft and chain snatching thus disturbing the overall safety, peace and harmony of the block. The 2 cases heard are outside Palm Grove and Stellar Kings Court societies. The road adjacent to the main entry of the Meghdutam Park seems to have become a common hub for snatching of chains.
Another kind of theft has come to light recently. There has been an advent of theft with regards to the DG set parts of the societies. DG synchronising panel controls the functionality of a number of diesel generator sets. The cost of these panels varies from 1 lakh to 2.5 lakh rupees. The most recent societies that are victim to these thefts are the Meghdutam apartments, Mahagun Maple and Alok- Vihar 1.
The thefts in the above-mentioned cases have commonly taken place at the night time. They were solely aimed towards the stealing of only the panels of the DG sets. The reason for the thefts of these panels, also stolen in other sectors of Noida too, is because there is a dire shortage of these panels in the market. The companies are now switching to solar-powered panels as these DG panels cause a lot of environmental pollution.
Due to these thefts, the societies which are supposed to be a safe space for the residents have become a matter of dire threat especially for the kids and the elders.
Because of such cases recently, reader may now realize the reason for increase in PCR vans and the Noida Police SUVs. Even the SHO’s car is seen parked at the various corners of F-block, at different times.
Even with the constant patrolling of the police vans and the beat police at night, the criminal activities are not decreasing. This poses a constant threat and an unsafe feeling to the people living in and around the locality .
The road on the eastern side of Meghdutam apartments that the F-block residents have to take while coming from Sector-50 metro station is lonely, dark and unsafe. Similarly the road in front of the Community centre building that is dark and full of weeds, which residents whose societies do not have direct access/gate to the Meghdutam Park take, is a likely place to be the victim of snatchers.
