Noida is a satellite town of the NCR, adjacent to Delhi, separated from the Capital by the Yamuna River and is mainly dependent on Delhi for most business & commercial activities. A number of residents travel almost every day from Noida to Delhi and vice-versa. If one has to go from Delhi to Noida, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Agra, Lucknow onward, one has to take the main connecting road from Mayur Vihar, Delhi to Mahamaya Road to the Greater Noida Expressway to the Yamuna Expressway, crossing Sector 15A and the Film City. This road, most of the time, has traffic jams and during office hours it takes 40 to 60 minutes to cross this patch from Mayur Vihar to the Mahamaya flyover.
Have we ever calculated how many hours or how much fuel is being wasted by Noida or Delhi residents?
What are we Noida residents doing about this or are we just silently putting up with this for many years? Do we have the right to ask the Noida Authority or the UP Government or the Central Government what they are doing to address this situation?
We Indians are very resilient and have high tolerance to our situation and our environment. Take the example of putting up with the life-threatening pollution in Delhi NCR every year or the traffic congestion every day for hours.
Under the ‘Double Engine’ government in UP and the leadership of Shri Narender Modi ji in the centre and Shri Yogi Adityanath ji in UP, it is not difficult.
Noida Authority seems to be making plans year after year, but these plans do not materialise. Who will take responsibility for this? Are local elected politicians, MLAs and MPs, effectively playing their role or just giving assurances to Noida residents for the past several years? Do we have the right to ask and know what they have done in the past few years for Noida residents, politicians whom we have voted for and elected? They have to represent the residents’ problems and give timely solutions, not just mere lip-service assurances. l am sure they are all very powerful leaders and can make the life of Noida residents better, for which very purpose they have been elected. They can provide solutions with the help of Central Govt cooperation, provided they are really willing to resolve these issues.
At the centre we have a very dynamic and capable Minister, Nitish Gadhkari, who has done tremendous work during the last few years for the country’s infrastructure under the BJP government. Why will he not be willing to help & resolve this small problem of Noida residents, provided local Noida politicians focus on the issues in the true sense, not just on assurances?
Still, it is not too late. Noida residents have suffered for the last few years, how many more years will they have to suffer?
