Noida Auth takes out a tender for lights Rusty Poles Replaced
The Noida Authority has taken out a tender for providing street lights with octagonal poles in parks in Sector 26 Noida.
Recently, an estimated 10 street light poles have been replaced in the sector because they were rusting or had tilted. Residents faced long power cuts for a few days as the work went on.
However, residents have raised the issue of the parks being overlit while the streets remain underlit. Robin Mathews Makyadath has asked for the lane near Gate 2 to have at least one street light as the whole lane is dark on account of two adjoining plots being vacant.
The fact that the streets of the sector need to be well-lit for safety concerns cannot be overemphasised enough. Dark stretches on roads help criminals target unsuspecting residents. We are all aware of the incidents of chain snatching and even break-ins in houses. Maybe the RWCS can make a survey of the dark spots in the sector or ask residents for information.
Residents have raised the matter of faulty street lights too, which, to the credit of RWCS, has been responded to in a matter of a few days. In August 2021, Noida Authority issued a toll-free number ‘18001029574’ as well as a mobile app ‘Noida Smart LED Light’, which can be downloaded for complaints regarding non-functional streetlights.
