The executive committee of Athena Welfare Society Sector 75 had its term expire in January 2024. However, the committee members were reluctant to hold fresh elections due to a complaint filed by a resident at the Dy. Registrar Meerut against the previous office bearers. After pressure from the residents, the AWS committee called a General Body Meeting (GBM) on March 17, 2024.
The GBM was chaired by the president of Athena Welfare Society, Sushant Yadava. The general secretary, Pryandar Chauhan, provided brief updates on the latest project developments, improvements in maintenance, the amount received from the builder for project completion, financial statements of maintenance accounts, pipelined project works, pending project works, maintenance complaints, and pending society dues.
The general secretary also updated on the major activities done to get the STP plant operational. This included replacing the ACF/MGF filter media, repairing the exhaust fan and air blower (2 Nos.), installing inlet/outlet (2 Nos.) flow meters, doing earthing for all STP plants, installing a new screw pump and cleaning the grease chamber. The total cost for all these activities was INR 4.5 Lacs.
The general secretary further updated on the water quality. Due to almost no circulation or filtration of swimming pool water, the pump was replaced with a new one and the Pump room softener line strainer cleaning was done to reduce the TDS. Last year, almost 4.5 lacs were spent on water tankers with no supply of Ganga water or less supply. To maintain the water supply in the future, a new 15 HP motor was installed.
The general secretary also provided an update on the CCTVs. In the beginning of 2023, almost 50 out of 70 CCTVs were not operational or had poor resolution. However, almost all CCTVs were made operational, and the AMC vendor replaced them at 50% cost. Currently, all CCTVs are being replaced with better-resolution HD cameras, and this work is expected to be completed within the current month.
The president, Sushant Yadava, updated the members on the formation of the AOA and set a target to form it by 30th June 2024. While many residents have suggested forming the AOA, some have suggested not taking the handover until the completion of the project. Despite requests from esteemed members Sumit Dudha and Ajay Rambal for the ex-general secretary Brishank Srivastava to take the initiative to form an AOA, he has not given any acceptance to the same. However, the General Body has given an extension to the current committee to function on a basis until the formation of the AOA with one voice.
